Catalogus und Centurien

This volume presents the results of an interdisciplinary symposium on the Magdeburg Centuries and the Croatian scholar Matthias Flacius Illyricus. The papers were given by medievalists, experts in early modern history, scholars of medieval German literature and philologists of medieval Latin. In addition, the book includes a central chapter of Ronald Diener's 1978 dissertation, which has been translated into German. The first part of the volume deals with Flacius' text edition of Otfrid of Weissenburg and the Varia doctorum poemata, his years in Regensburg and the nature of his research. The second part is dedicated to the Centuriators of Magdeburg, their methodology, their search for sources and the way in which they dealt with these sources.
